What doesn't kill you...

This week, our homage to one of our favorite radio shows, "This American Life".

Act One:  A Novel Relationship.
What happens to a relationship if you become a character in it?  Felicia Chavez's essay tells the true story of a horrible relationship that got very interesting when she started reading her boyfriend's journal and discovered he was writing about her.  Felicia is a first year student in the University of Iowa MFA Non Fiction Program.

Act Two:  Climbing the Ladder
How low will you go to reach the top?  Before coming to the MFA Non Fiction program, Amy Schleunes  was a struggling screenwriter in Hollywood who got the job from hell working at a top talent agency.

Act Three:  Trial by Fire ... in more ways than one.
AIA Resident Artist, Sean Christopher Lewis joined us in the studio to perform an improvised radio essay about his favorite uncle who, after a bad divorce, became the opening act for a metal band as a Satanic preacher named "Brother Sin".

And Act Four:  a Musical Finale
John Watkins, another AIA Resident Artist came into the studio to end the show with a performance of his song, "I Found the Hate".
